About me
Bonjour, je m'appelle Céline
I am a qualified teacher with 20+years of experience with children (from 2 years old !), young people and adults. I worked in school alongside being a professional visual artist (my art website). Friendly, fun, interesting, dynamic and creative with a very empathetic approach to teaching, I will quickly adjust to your learning style, follow your ryhtm and help you on your learning journey with enthusiasm.
I was born in Nantes, France and I grew up between countryside and seaside (Noirmoutier island, Vendée) but I have lived in England for 20 years. In France, I studied Psychology up to a master's degree. I then became a school teacher and later obtained a degree in Fine Art in England. I am passionate about art since artist is my second profession. I am very interested in cultures and I have worked as a volunteer with asylum seekers and refugees. I love the outdoors: gardening, hiking, biking, swimming outdoors... I like to read books specialized in psychology or spirituality. I love science fiction movies. I am also passionate about dance (West African, contemporary, Brazilian dance....) and music. Another one of my activities is Reiki. I also have a cat named Coco who my online students get to hear from time to time !

What, how and where ...
Adults - One to one - all levels
(1h00 session)
Whatever way you learn, I am very flexible and will adjust to your needs and preferences, but here are some ideas :
Casual learning : you may just want to learn or refresh your knowledge about the basics, in a relaxed way. We will start from where you are and build up organically, using real life situations and introducing grammar and vocabulary when needed.
Conversational French : you will have the opportunity to exchange with a native speaker about any subjects (specific topics can be provided). I will introduce quick grammar revisions if needed, as well as new vocabulary and cultural input.
Learning with a book : depending on your level, we will use the course books “Facon de parler” or “Alter Ego”. Both methods mix reading, writing, speaking and understanding practices in a well-balanced way. Vocabulary and grammar are also part of the lessons. For the more advanced, conversations will be encouraged.
...or a mix of all above ...
Adults - small group (2 to 5) of same level
(1h30 session)
Depending on the level of the group, we will use the course books “Facon de parler” or “Alter Ego”. Both methods mix reading, writing, speaking and understanding practices in a well-balanced way.
Vocabulary and grammar are also part of the lessons.
For the more advanced, conversations will be encouraged.
Lessons are provided at my house or online (Zoom).
GCSE/A-LEVEL students (1h00 session)
We will discuss your needs and I may also suggest some area of work. We will start from where you are in your school work. You will still have to do your homework on your own time but I am there to support your learning, answer questions and help you with whatever is unclear or not understood.
The lessons are an extra and precious tailored support for you but they won’t replace your lessons and/or revision time.
Lessons are provided at my house or online (Zoom).
Home teaching at yours available on request if at a reasonable distance within Nottingham and the close area (extra fee required).
Children (from 2yo) - 30 min to 1h00 session
I have an extensive experience in teaching Nursery and Primary school children, using illustrated books, songs and nursery rhyms for the youngest and/or interactive lessons for the eldes (based on the National Curriculum).
Lessons are provided at my house or online (Zoom).
Home teaching at yours available on request if at a reasonable distance within Nottingham and the close area (extra fee required)
